PharmaTraining React to Increasing Importance of SCM

Release issued 22nd March 2011

Aware of the increasing importance of pharmaceutical supply chain management (SCM) within the industry, PharmaTraining is running a two day SCM workshop, at the Window Conference Venue, Islington, London from the 5th - 6th May 2011.

The trainer for the workshop, Hedley Rees, is an expert in the field of supply chain management and author of ‘Supply Chain Management within the Drug Industry'. Hedley has been running SCM courses with PharmaTraining for over three years and his expertise comes from many years managing global supply chains for large pharmaceutical companies including Bayer and Johnson and Johnson.

"The type of delegates the course attracts are those people who wish to understand the significant benefits that SCM can have for an organisation," comments Hedley. "Typically this will include: Project Managers, Clinical and Non-clinical Project Team Members, Contract Managers, Quality and Compliance Personnel, Finance Managers and employees involved with Marketing and Business Development."

The two day workshop aims to provide participants with a complete overview of professional supply chain management processes used across all sectors, highlighting the issues and opportunities that exist specially within the pharmaceutical sector. It bridges the gap between practitioners of supply chain management and pharmaceutical industry experts.
The interactive workshop focuses on areas including:

  • Increased value delivery from CRO's and CMO's as well as other service providers.
  • Actions that can transform supply chain performance.
  • Reducing risk of delays and failure in getting drugs to site or channel.
  • Stronger and tighter third party relationships and agreements.
  • Enhanced control of inventory investment, availability and traceability.
  • Ability to perform risk assessments and mitigation plans for the supply network.
  • Appreciation of how to build shared understanding of Chemistry Manufacturing
  • Control activities within project management teams.
  • Increased confidence in driving continuous improvement through your supply chains.

Hedley continues, "The course delivers the message that supply chain management isn't about moving product, it is about ensuring a strategic development of the supply chain within the pharmaceutical and drug discovery industries."
