FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Palm Beach, Florida
Kenneth Kirby of Transdermal Technologies, Inc. and Anne Chinoda of Florida's Blood Centers of Orlando announced today that an agreement had been reached with the Blood Centers for TransDermal's not-for-profit Langford Research Insitute to occupy 4,500 square feet of wet lab facility on the second floor of the Blood Center's Lake Park/Palm Beach Gardens facility.
Company spokesman Ken Kirby said, "We have been sponsoring research grants for many years in the United Kingdom under the aegis of Langford Research. We are excited to be able to partner with the Blood Centers on this new venture to flesh out a U.S. presence for the institute." Kirby also announced that he would assume a role of Managing Director at the institute and maintain an office there. "As we develop TDS® formulations for our projects or for partners, the ability to expand our capabilities is critical." Kirby said.
Florida's Blood Centers, the leading blood banking and blood products service in the state, have partnered with one of the State's biotechnology anchors, The Burnham Institute, providing them with offices and wetlab space in their Orlando headquarters building while their Lake Nona new construction is completed. The Blood Centers are a strong community partner, stepping up aggressively to support the growing biotechnology and drug technology sectors in central and south Florida.
The Langford Research Institute is a registered Florida Not-for-profit Corporation and is applying for 501(c)3 status with the I.R.S. and is focused on advancing research into transdermal drug delivery. Kirby announced that he anticipated partnering to bring in full formulation, analysis and stability support. The institute will soon have a web site visible at www.LangfordResearch.org. The lab is expected to be operational within 120 days.
