Porsolt & Partners Pharmacology - Appointment of Dr. Mark Duxon as CEO

Release issued 15th July 2008

Porsolt & Partners Pharmacology announces the appointment of Dr. Mark Duxon as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Dr. Duxon will assume his new responsibilities in September 2008.

Dr. Duxon obtained his university training at the University of Nottingham (UK), with a BSc (1st class honours) in molecular biology in 1993 and a PhD in neuropharmacology in 1996. He joined the Merck Neuroscience Research Centre in Terlings Park (UK) as post-doctoral research scientist in 1996. Subsequently, Dr. Duxon took up a position as neuropharmacologist at GSK at the Neuroscience Research Centre in Harlow (UK) in 1998, followed by increasing line management responsibilities in their different drug discovery programs over the ensuing years. After a brief period with Lundbeck (USA), between 2002 and 2003, Dr. Duxon returned to GSK and was posted to Singapore in 2004 to set up and head a new research facility with a € 30 million budget over 5 years. Since April 2006 Dr. Duxon has been CEO of Maccine, a contract research organization (CRO) in Singapore.

Dr. Roger D. Porsolt, founder and currently CEO and President of Porsolt & Partners Pharmacology commented:

"Mark's coming to Porsolt & Partners Pharmacology represents a major milestone in the development of the company. We have achieved great success in the past through our insistence on impeccable service, high quality performance, flexibility in response to client requirements and state-of-the-art science. Our company has now reached a level of complexity where these qualities have to be supplemented by a corresponding increase in the rigor of our financial management, business planning and commercial development, skills that Mark has acquired during his short but intense professional career. Mark is young, dynamic and creative, with impeccable scientific credentials. He has demonstrated his management and commercial skills in a very competitive environment and knows the mechanisms of contract research on the international industrial scene. He is just the man to assume responsibility for the next phases of our development, at a time when I will be taking a step back from active management of the company."
