Saint-Cloud, France ? Shanghai, China - Hong Kong: Ethypharm, a world leader in the field of controlled-release drug delivery systems, announced the signing of an agreement today for the promotion and marketing of its patented technologies with the contract manufacturing division of Interpharma Asia Pacific Ltd., a privately-held company owned by the Zuellig family and a leader in marketing, distribution, and manufacturing for pharmaceutical companies in Pacific Asia.
According to the terms of the agreement, the partnership between the two companies involves the development, distribution, and supply of pharmaceutical products using Ethypharm's proprietary technologies for the markets in Asia Pacific, notably Australia, New Zealand, the Asean countries, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, with the exception of China and Japan. Interpharma seeks to extend its activities by offering Ethypharm's innovative technologies to their sizeable clientele across the region, where they are the leader in pharmaceutical services to multinational and leading regional laboratories.
This agreement underscores Ethypharm's determination for growth in Asia. The French group is the number one controlled-release drug delivery systems company in the region, with a variety of partnerships as well as products that are currently on the market, or are undergoing the registration process . This alliance will give both Ethypharm and Interpharma enhanced reactivity and regional support better adapted to the demands of multinational companies operating in Asia.
Ethypharm currently owns manufacturing sites and R&D centers in Shanghai, China and in Mumbai, India for its oral modified release and Flashtab® technologies, as well as ongoing R&D collaborations using its prolonged release, taste-masking, and orodispersible Flashtab® technologies and Sustained Release Injectable proteins.
Within the framework of this agreement, Ethypharm is responsible for development, registration, and manufacturing while the marketing, specific manufacturing and packaging activities are entrusted to Interpharma, in coordination with Ethypharm.
