The present technology offer relates to the field of rectal and mesorectal surgery, in particular to a retractor for use in said type of surgery.
For proper rectal and mesorectal surgery it is necessary a retractor that allows the view of all organs. Among the most common pelvic retractors in the market, we find Doyen´s retractor and St Mark´s retractor. However, these retractors have some drawbacks. Namely, Doyen´s retractor has insufficient length and depth, while St Mark´s is too heavy and broad. The device for pelvis retraction which is object of the present technology offer, overcomes these problems.
It is a surgical retraction device that consists of:
A handle to be hold for the surgeon.
A horizontal branch attached to the handle.
A vertical branch attached to the horizontal branch, having a final tooth which allows retraction of the rectum.
This pelvic retractor provides an optimal view of the pelvis during rectal and mesorectal surgery. It can also be used for the dissection of bladder, uterus and prostate.
Advantages of the offer
The present pelvic retractor is longer and deeper than Doyen´s retractor and is lighter and less wide than St Mark´s. Addiotionally it has a kind of final tooth allowing the retraction of the rectum.
The research group is looking for a collaboration agreement to further develop the technology or a licence agreement.
