Human Myeloma Cell Lines and their expansion
Application: Different myeloma tumor cell lines and their expansion for use in drug screening and research
Human myeloma cell lines that are useful in the clinical research setting are difficult to obtain and the opportunities to propagate them in culture difficult. University researchers have developed a SCID-hu mouse that can be used for growing primary, human myeloma cell lines. In this model system the isolated myeloma cells can be propagated in this mouse line or can be grown in co-culture with stromal cells. The value of this system is that these expanded cell lines closely mimic their progenitor clinical myeloma cells. Thus, tumor cell populations can be obtained to scale up research studies. Different cell lines of myeloma tumors have been generated and are available thus allowing the detailed analysis of cells from a diverse patient population.
The relevant cell lines that were developed are confidentially maintained by the PI.
