SPHR913 anti-wrinkle serum is an innovative product researched and developed to lessen the effects of skin ageing. The key ingredient is telmesteine (N-carbetoxy-4-tiazolidin carboxylic acid).

Telmesteine has a number of key benefits, which makes it suitable as a powerful anti-wrinkle serum:

1) demonstrates an inhibitory effect against two metalloproteases, specifically MMP-2 and MMP-9, which breaks down collagen. These effects were demonstrated in vitro and were evident even at very low levels of telmesteine (from 7mM to 10mM) . Collagen degradation is one of the principal reasons why wrinkles develop.

2) inhibits leukocyte elastase. In vitro results showed that telmesteine inhibited leukocyte elastase, again at a very low level (100uM) . Elastin degradation is another factor that leads to wrinkle onset.

3) has an anti-hyaluronidase effect. The main function of Hyaluraric Acid is to lubricate knee, elbow, finger and toe joints. Another role it plays is to hold water within the matrix of collagen and elastin. Hyaluronic acid also smoothes out the skin's surface and can make the skin less rough. Because telmesteine inhibits the rapid degradation of hyaluronic acid, it also works to prolong the life of cosmetic products that contain this popular ingredient.

4) has a scavenging action on free radicals, as well as an "anti-ageing" effect. Oxidative damage is one of the major causes of skin wrinkles. Tests of glutathion-peroxidase activity and microsomial oxidation clearly indicate the "free radical scavenger" action of telmesteine . Furthermore, it also demonstrated a protective function against the oxidating agents responsible for epithelial damage .

5) contains a sulphur atom in its structure, which helps to support normal keratin formation. Keratin cells are found in the epidermis and play a major role in maintaining skin's strength and elasticity. Similar to the degradation of collagen and elastic, keratin breakdown leads to the onset of skin wrinkles.

6) is widely used in the field of respiratory tract disorders. It has consequently undergone numerous clinical studies and has a long track record of efficacy and, equally important, safety. Furthermore, SPHR913 has several studies proving its safety .

The formation of wrinkles is a natural, physiological process that accompanies the ageing process. Over time, the skin naturally becomes thinner, less elastic and more fragile. Oil production is decreased and fewer fat cells are produced. These changes coupled with a gradual breakdown of skin's connective tissue results in skin losing its strength and flexibility. Skin degradation is controlled by many enzymes, and their regulation is fundamental in order to control wrinkles.

When wrinkles appear, many people turn to the cosmetic counter looking for solutions. The market today offers many products, which are in most cases clinically proven.
