Full description

Decapinol toothpaste containing Sodium Fluoride (NaF) 0.11% and Delmopinol 0.2%, is a new addition to the Decapinol family and is indicated for the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis.

Decapinol toothpaste is designed as a preventative measure and complements Decapinol rinse extremely well and as with the rinse, this new presentation contains the cationic surfactant Delmopinol Hydrochloride.

Decapinol Toothpaste's key ingredient ~ Delmopinol, has a unique mode of action, which prevents the attachment as well as the adherence of plaque bacteria to the teeth, gingiva and to itself . This interference with the plaque build-up process prevents the onset of gingivitis that can lead to periodontitis.

It also interferes with the enzyme GTF, which is responsible for the production of glucans (the glue or cement that is critical for plaque build-up). This results is less cohesive and less adhesive plaque bacteria, making it easier to remove by conventional tooth brushing techniques. It also maintains a healthy composition of oral bacteria .

Decapinol Toothpaste and Toothpaste (gel) with Fluoride (0.11%) contains 2mg Delmopinol hydrochloride per ml and is available in a 75ml PE tube and a 16ml sample tube.

Core benefits -

  • Decapinol toothpaste offers a convenient way to treat and prevent gingivitis & periodontitis ~ it allows patients to help control gingivitis in an easy and convenient manner
  • Delmopinol molecule has proven efficacy & safety in treating gingivitis - short & long term
  • Customer satisfaction & compliance - does not cause tooth staining so long-term use
  • Delmopinol promotes healthy balance of oral microflora - does not kill gram-positive bacteria (associated with healthy gingiva) unlike Chlorhexidine based toothpaste/toothgels
  • Decapinol Toothpaste compliments Decapinol Rinse very well and both can be used in conjunction with each other

Stage of development

In the European Union, Decapinol Toothpaste Fluoride and Decapinol Toothpaste (gel) fluoride is registered as a Class IIa medical device, and has as such been awarded a CE mark. The Medical Device Directive applies to all European Union countries, which means the above can be sold freely within these countries, without further registration requirements. The CE mark signifies the product's conformity with the Directive.

In the United States, we are currently awaiting approval from the FDA - note, the formulation will differ from the European formulation (more details can be provided upon request).
