What is the Fertility Cup
Evofem learned several years ago that women have been using the Instead Softcup menstrual product to conceive by inserting the cup after intercourse in order to retain semen near the cervical opening for a prolonged period of time.
We continue to get positive reports on its effectiveness from couples with prior difficulty in conceiving.
We are taking the product through regulatory approval and expect approval by early 2011. We have extensive safety data and over a decade in the market of the Softcup.
Initial approval will be as a prescription device followed by OTC approval within 1-2 years.
Opportunity
With infertility becoming a growing problem in much of the developed world, there is a huge unmet need for effective products at an affordable price. Currently on one end of the spectrum you have (arguably ineffective) pre-natal vitamins and, often bizarre, techniques and on the other IVF treatment costing over $10,000.
With sperm-count and sperm-motility accounting for 40-50% of fertility problems, we believe there is a huge market for this product that goes beyond sales of existing fertility products.
Exclusive distribution partnerships.
We would like partners with expertise and a presence in the fertility market who is prepared to take on the product and market and distribute in their territory.
