Development of a Novel Method for the Production of Vitamin E/Tocopherol

We have developed a novel manufacturing process of Vitamin E/tocopherol from basic steps, which involve: sulhonation of 2,3,6 Trimethyl phenol in a glass lined reactor. The sulphonated product is oxidized to trimethyl quinone. The quinone is reduced to trimethyl hydroquinone using sodium dithionite. The dried hydroquinone is condensed with isophytol to yield tocopherol which is then acetylated and distilled to obtain pure vitamin E acetate. The product conforms to IP/USP quality standards.

Conclusion

An Indian firm offers the technology for manufacture of Vitamin E/Tocopherol.
