Sulidin® nimesulide LPS Non-Steroidal Topical Anti-inflammatory gel for the local treatment of painful inflammatory conditions.

Embil Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.
Using a lamellar structure as a delivery system, the Sulidin® Nimesulide LPS gel provides enhanced percutaneous penetration of Nimesulide and reduced yellow staining on the skin. LPS Technology worldwide patents are pending.

Mechanism of action

The anti-inflammatory potency of nimesulide is similar to or greater than indomethacin, diclofenac, piroxicam and ibuprofen. Its analgesic activity is similar to that of ibuprofen.

Full description

The Lamellar Penetration System (LPS) is based on the concept that the lamellar structure, which lies within the interstitial spaces of the skin, has an affinity to similar structures. Therefore, using a lamellar structure as a delivery system facilitates the penetration of soluble active drug substances into the skin layers. The Embil formulation delivers a soluble form of nimesulide into the skin using this technology. Additionally, the lamellar hydrophobic structure protects against the direct staining of the hydrophobic phase that contains the soluble drug. Therapeutic indications: Sulidin® nimesulide LPS Gel (Embil) is indicated for the topical treatment of a variety of conditions characterized by pain, inflammation and stiffness, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, periarthritis, post traumatic or acute musculoskeletal disorders including tendonitis, tenosynovitis, bursitis, sprains, strains and lower back pain, as well as sports injuries. Sulidin® Nimesulide Lamellar penetration System (LPS) gel contains 1% (w/w) of nimesulide, a Cox-2 selective non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the sulfoanilide class. The anti-inflammatory potency of nimesulide is similar to or greater than that of indomethacin, diclofenac, piroxicam and ibuprofen in animal models. Its analgesic activity is similar to that of ibuprofen and less than that of indomethacin in rats and mice.
