GENEVA, Illinois, May 14GENEVA, Illinois, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Media representatives from accredited news organizations are invited to observe live hair restoration surgeries and interview an esteemed international panel of hair restoration physicians at "Made in Italy," a joint hair surgery workshop hosted by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and the Istituto Dermopatico dell'Immacolata (IDI).
World-renown hair restoration physicians will gather in Rome, Italy, to present the latest surgical advances in treating hair loss in men and women during this specialized, three-day workshop. Workshop participants, as well as the media, will be able to view a series of live hair restoration surgeries broadcast via live video connection between the operating theatres and the conference hall.
"Today's hair restoration surgery safely and effectively creates natural-looking, permanent results that are virtually undetectable," said Bessam K. Farjo, M.D., president of the ISHRS. The live hair surgery viewing for members of the media and press conference will be held Friday, May 30, from 11:05 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Istituto Dermopatico dell'Immacolata, Via dei Monti di Creta, 104, 00167 Rome, Italy.
In addition, people experiencing hair loss will have the opportunity to participate in free patient consultations with leading hair loss physicians during a live consultation workshop on Sunday, June 1. Patients invited to participate in this special educational opportunity were selected in advance by the IDI via an invitation to the general public.
Experts believe the continual refinements in modern day hair transplants and proven medical therapies are driving the increased demand for hair restoration procedures around the world. According to statistics released from a member survey conducted last year by the ISHRS, approximately 225,800 hair restoration procedures were performed worldwide in 2006, up 34 percent from 2004. Based on the estimated number of 225,800 hair restoration procedures performed in 2006, multiplied by the average fee charged to patients for a procedure, the estimated worldwide market for hair restoration was calculated as EUR914,692,195 (Euros).
