Shirley Manson Accepts M-A-C AIDS Fund Cheque on Behalf of Waverley Care

- International Singer, Previous M-A-C Viva Glam Ambassador and Waverley Care Patron Shirley Manson to Make Personal Appearance at the M-A-C Counter at Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh

— LONDON, April 2

LONDON, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- International Singer, past M-A-C Viva Glam Ambassador and Patron of the AIDS Charity Waverley Care Shirley Manson will make an in-store appearance at the M-A-C counter at Harvey Nichols on 10th April at 1pm. She will be accepting a cheque for GBP51,000 on behalf of Waverley Care from the M-A-C AIDS Fund on the day.

Waverley Care is Scotland's leading charity supporting people living with HIV and AIDS, providing a wide range of services to over 300 people a year. It was founded in 1989 as a direct response of the HIV epidemic in Scotland. These funds, donated from the M-A-C AIDS Fund, will support the charity's public access, information centre which provides accurate, relevant and up-to-date information concerning HIV and AIDS to all those who need it, enabling people to make informed choices, and enhancing public understanding and awareness.

IN STORE APPEARANCE - THURSDAY 10 APRIL 2008:

- The M-A-C counter, Ground Floor, Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh

1pm - 2pm

In 2007, Scotland saw a 29% increase in the number of affirmative HIV test results. And contrary to misconceptions about the virus, heterosexuals are just as vulnerable to the risk - the figures revealed a rise in heterosexual infections. It is estimated 5,415 people live with HIV in Scotland.

The M-A-C AIDS Fund, the heart and soul of M-A-C Cosmetics, supports men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally with money raised via 100% of Viva Glam Lipstick and Lipglass sales. To date the M-A-C AIDS Fund has raised over US$115 million to help fight HIV and AIDS around the world. The money represents the sale, over the past 13 years, of more than 7.1 million Viva Glam lip products - of which 100% of the selling price has gone to the work of the Fund.
