Fidia Advanced Biopolymers (FAB) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fidia Farmaceutici S.p.A., a private Italian pharmaceutical company founded in 1946 and a world leader in hyaluronan technology. The company headquarters are located in Abano Terme, about 50 kilometres west of Venice
FAB was established in 1992 and is a fully-integrated company with R&D, manufacturing, marketing and sales divisions. Its mission is to provide the medical community with innovative therapeutic tools for the regeneration of connective and structural tissues damaged by injuries, aging or degenerative diseases.
FAB emerged as the pioneer in the field of autologous tissue transplants. It is has been providing for almost ten years the production of autologous dermal, epidermal and cartilage grafts in an ISO 9002 certified facility dedicated to tissue engineering, currently the largest in Europe. FAB has received GMP approval for manufacturing of tissue-engineered products according to the new European regulations in December 2006.
The core technology of FAB is based on a new class of patented biopolymers obtained from chemical modifications of hyaluronan, a naturally occurring polysaccharide ubiquitous and very conserved in living species. FAB develops, manufactures and markets innovative medical devices based on this technology and expressly tailored for its three business areas: 1) Bio-orthopedics; 2) Bio-surgery; 3) Soft tissue repair.
FAB actively promotes its own proprietary products and services with a network of product specialists in Italy. FAB has a keen interest in expanding its opportunities by licensing its proprietary products either on a multinational level or on a country-by-country basis.
