The history of POLPHARMA began in 1935 with the establishment of the Polish Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant in Starogard Gdanski, Poland. From 1939 to 1945, in the final stage of the fight for the liberation of Pomerania the plant was severely damaged and in 1949, the reconstruction on the plant was completed. The first product manufactured after the war was redistillated water in ampoules. In 1951, the Minister of Chemical Industry transformed POLPHARMA into Starogard Pharmaceutical Plant. In 1959, Starogard Pharmaceutical Plant became a part of Pharmaceutical Industry Union 'Polfa'. On December 1, 1995, the Company became a single owner Company of the State Treasury and was renamed the POLPHARMA Joint Stock Company. On June 6, 2000, construction was completed on the largest and most modern facility in Poland for the manufacture of finished forms of drugs called 'Solid Forms'. In July 2000, POLPHARMA was privatized using exclusively Polish capital. Spectra Holding became the main shareholder. POLPHARMA Trade Office was established in 2001 in Warsaw for the promotion and sale of drugs.
