Gerot Pharmazeutika was founded in 1948 by two chemists, Dr. Gergely and Dr. Otto. In 1977, Gerot started export activities to Eastern European countries, and subsequently founded subsidiaries in Hungary in 1991, in Poland in 1992, in Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1994, and in Romania in 1999. In 1992, Gerot became part of Donauchemie, which belongs to the Rhône-Poulenc group, and is in charge of marketing the products of Rhône-Poulenc Rorer in Austria. Then in 1997, once again in private hands, Gerot became an independent associate company of the Austrian pharmaceutical company Lannacher Heilmittel. Gerot Pharmazeutika has 230 employees in Austria and Eastern European countries. Gerot's products for pharmacy and hospital supply are sold in more than 40 countries worldwide. From its inception, Gerot has been manufacturing almost all galenic forms at its own plants according to GMP guidelines and the criteria of strict quality control. Its objective is to continue expansion in national and international markets through collaborations, acquisitions and new commercial operations. Gerot Pharmazeutika has four business areas: proprietary and in-licensed therapeutic products; X-Ray, MRI contrast media and medical devices under the license of Bracco, Italy; Gerot exports via subsidiaries or partner companies to 46 countries worldwide and offers contract manufacturing services to several national and international companies.
