BioInvent International

Summary

BioInvent International, the division now responsible for contract manufacturing, was established in 1983 by a group of scientists from the University of Lund in Sweden. After a management buy-out in 1995, the company extended its interests to develop new technologies within combinatorial biology under a new division, BioInvent Therapeutic. The company's production activities were consolidated into a dedicated contract manufacturing business primarily for therapeutic antibodies under the BioInvent Production Banner. Both divisions are held by a parent company, BioInvent International. The current corporate structure was established to bring these businesses forward to full commercial exploitation, with BioInvent Therapeutic and BioInvent Production responsible for the commercialisation of the drug discovery tools and the manufacturing assets respectively. BioInvent is a research-based pharmaceutical company that focuses on development of antibody-based drugs. The Company is currently running innovative drug projects within the areas of atherosclerosis, thrombosis, cancer and ophthalmic diseases. BioInvent focuses on discovery and development of drug candidates and documenting their biological activity and effect in early clinical trials. The later clinical program and commercialization of the candidates will preferably take place in cooperation with established pharmaceutical companies.
