As the U.S. subsidiary of Teikoku Seiyaku Co, established in Japan in 1848, Teikoku Pharma USA (TPU), builds on a long tradition of visionary pharmaceutical development. Teikoku Seiyaku created one of the world's first analgesic plasters over 60 years ago and has long been a leader in the search for effective and non-invasive drug delivery systems. Our technologies include; passive patches, including a 7-day passive patch, and a buccal patch, active patches (Iontophoretic patch) and our Jelly technology for patients with swallowing difficulties.
Our parent company pioneered the development of some of the earliest transdermal drug delivery technologies. That same spirit of discovery is a hallmark of Teikoku Pharma USA's efforts to create new medical applications. Beginning with Lidoderm® -- our first FDA-approved product -- and the first NSAID patch approved in the US, Flector®, we continue to chart new territory in prescription and OTC markets around the world, transforming ideas into products that will help people live healthier and happier lives.
Our strategy is to formulate, and co-develop products with our partners and at the same time retain manufacturing rights. We then seek to license these products out to a marketer/distributor.
Our drug delivery technologies make for a valuable life-cycle management asset for line-extensions of existing products, as well as for transdermal/oral delivery of new drugs.
TPU works mainly in the CNS, and dermotological areas. We seek partners working in these therapeutic areas or in transdermal drug delivery.
