Chronogen was founded in 1998 by Dr. Siegfried Hekimi, Professor of biology at McGill University. Chronogen's mission is to commercialize novel treatments for age-dependent diseases. Chronogen has been able to complete its own discovery research and drug development initiatives, from the discovery of genes regulating aging in the nematode C. elegans to the development of drugs targeting different pathways: modulation of mitochondrial function, growth factor signaling and lipoprotein metabolism. Chronogen has been using high-throughput screening assays with compound libraries, as well as reprofiling known drugs for new uses.
