Morphochem was established from a university spin-off in 1996. An initial equity investment of EUR 2 million was made in January 1998 with an additional EUR 3.2 million supplied in the form of low-interest silent partnerships through federal and state programs. Morphochem is primarily concerned with their own in-house discovery and development of new targets and drug candidates, they are also very interested in outside collaborations and partnering opportunities. Since December 2005, Morphochem is a subsidiary of Biovertis.
