Boston Scietnific was formed in 1979 when John Abele and Pete Nicholas partnered to buy research company Medi-tech to form Boston Scientific. The company's initial public offering was in 1992. In October 2005, Boston Scientific acquired Endoscopic Stent Technologies from Rüsch. Boston Scientific's mission is to improve the quality of patient care and the productivity of health care delivery through the development and advocacy of less invasive medical devices and procedures. They plan to achieve this by maintaining their research and development pipeline and through the formation of corporate partnering agreements. The company have over 100 subsidiaries residing in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
