TECHNE was founded in 1981 and the companies subsidiary, Research and Diagnostic Systems, was founded and incorporated in 1976 and was acquired by TECHNE in 1985. TECHNE purchased its European biotechnology distributor, British Biotechnology Products which it renamed R&D Systems Europe from British Biotechnology Group in 1993. TECHNE's aim is to provide the research community with products that are helping mankind advance its knowledge of the biological processes that control peoples lives, from the embryo through to adulthood.
