PharmaLinkFHI was formed in 1999 when FHI and PharmaLink joined forces to create the first eCRO with access to over 100 countries worldwide. FHI was founded in 1971 when Family Health International (FHI) began building a comprehensive network of research capabilities in over 100 countries. In 1982, FHI pioneered the integration of technology into the trial process in a large scale, multinational trial. PharmaLink was established in 1998, and was recognized as the first CRO to specialize in internet-based management of clinical trials. The primary areas of focus for PharmaLinkFHI's business are the U.S., Japan, and Europe, which account for 90% of the world market for clinical research. The company intends to develop familiarity with other international research venues this knowledge should prove increasingly valuable as the barriers to international drug approval fall and competition for qualified clinicians and eligible patients increases.
