DPT is an independent, privately-owned company originally founded in 1938 as the Texas Pharmacal Company (TPC). TPC specialized in the creation of dermatological products, including sunscreen, acne products and lipid-free skin cleansers. In 1966 TPC was acquired by Warner-Lambert as a manufacturing site for their products and in 1979 the facility was sold to Alcon Laboratories. The site became a private company through sale by Alcon and soon changed its name to DPT in 1990.
