Biotecnol started operating in late 1996 as a consultancy company. Between 1997 and 1999, Biotecnol had a virtual existence, having its laboratories at the Centre for Biological and Chemical Engineering (CEBQ) at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and its head offices at Taguspark, the main Science & Technology Park in Portugal. In 2000, Biotechnol attracted it's first investment which allowed the company to develop into a pharmaceutical biotech research & development driven company. Biotecnol SA is a private biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of biopharmaceuticals. Biotecnol has a special focus on the development of antibody-based therapeutics to treat life-threatening diseases such as cancer.
