Astex Therapeutics was founded in 1999 by Harren Jhoti, PhD, former Head of Structural Biology and of UK Bioinformatics at GlaxoWellcome, together with Professor Sir Tom Blundell, FRS, Professor Chris Abell, (both of University of Cambridge) and Dr Roberto Solari, currently Chief Executive of Medical Research Council Technology. Astex Therapeutics (formerly Astex Technology) is a biotechnology company that discovers and develops molecularly-targeted drugs in areas of unmet medical need. The company's primary focus is in oncology. Astex has a broad and expanding pipeline of products in clinical and pre-clinical development generated using its proprietary drug discovery engine, Pyramid.
