Fundación Progreso y Salud

Fundación Progreso y Salud
The Fundación Progreso y Salud is the central entity which supports and manages Public Health System research in Andalusia and also effectively promotes health research and innovation in the region.

The company in detail

Profile

The essential objective of the Fundación Progreso y Salud is to boost the research process in three distinct areas: resource development, scientific production development and the transfer of the results obtained.

To this end, its main functions are:

  • To promote the development and consolidation of structures to support health research and its transfer, in line with Andalusian health planning with regard to knowledge of and solutions for the principal health problems suffered by citizens.
  • To directly manage strategically important Regional Ministry of Health research projects such as the Andalusian Stem Cell Bank and the CABIMER (Andalusian Center for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine).
  • To boost research financing both through direct programmes and by providing access to, information about and management of grants made available by public organisms ( at regional, national and European level) and by private entities.
  • To encourage the development, mobility and interconnection of skills and creativity at both international and intersectorial levels.
  • To produce and disseminate information about infrastructures dedicated to biomedical research in the Andalusian Public Health System, and to promote the provision of the necessary installations and new equipment.
  • To provide researchers with access to systems of methodological, technical and documentary support, and to the scientific equipment associated with their scientific activity and professional development.
  • To manage scientific knowledge by developing real and virtual meeting points and spaces for communication between researchers.
  • To support the creation and development of structures which guarantee the protection and transfer of research results to the biotechnology industry, mainly in Andalusia, as a key step towards the incorporation of innovative therapy in clinical practice.

Partnering strategy/interests

The primary function of Fundación Progreso y Salud is to advance technologies that originated at the Public Health System of Andalusia. To this end, we seek both licensees as well as strategic partners to work with scientists and clinicians to continue the development and commercialization of technologies, for the purpose of taking its discoveries to the world's medical and healthcare market places.

Out-licensing

The tissues obtained by this method are very similar to the natural ones from the point of view of both, structure and functionality. They are easy to manipulate and have been succesfully tested in vivo. More
A new family of bivalent pyrazole derivatives able to control food intake and to induce satiety in mammals. These compounds constituted a promising alternative to the exixting drugs for the treatement of diseases and conditions derived from obesity. More
new composition for the prevention and treatment of pathological processes associated with cell proliferation and angiogenesis, such as cancer and artherosclerosis, which overcomes the toxicity problems associated to statins in the prior art. More
The new composition is a response to the problem of loss of function and/or mass of beta-pancreatic cells due to diabetes mellitus. The composition comprises a vascular endothelium growth factor and an inhibitor of its type 1 receptor (VEGFR1) More
A new system to compress the abdominal and diaphragmatic areas of a patient, in order to immobilize the area during irradiation. The compression system avoids movements that can cause inaccuracies in the treated area during radiotherapy. More
New dummy for the calibration and quality control of virtual simulation devices such as PET scanners, CT equipment, etc. Is designed to facilitate handling of the radioisotopes needed to calibrate a PET device, rendering the the process safer. More
method of screening directed to the identification of new compounds that inhibit or promote stem cell differentiation. More
A new frame for securing thermoplastic masks for NMR and CT. The frame is applied to immobilize the head of the patient and has two characterizing features, that allow its insertion into a portable magnetic resonance device. More
Modified human stem cells,so that they comprise the nucleotide sequence encoding the fusion protein FUS-CHOP and partial or total depletion of the product of expression of the gene coding for protein p53,useful tool for screening of oncogenesis inhibitors More
Is a two jaws gripping device characterized by an impact piece fixed next to the end of one of the gripping members of the device. It has been conceived primarily for the purpose of facilitating the extraction of fixation elements in Orthopedic Surgery. More
The incubator isolates the baby from external noise and light and includes a system to play sounds inside the device. The system is electronically controlled by a LCD touch screen that regulates sound level and light insulation More
This isolation includes direct culture during a period of time of at least 72 hours and use of a laser to eliminate the trophectoderm of those blastocysts, improves the efficacy of blastocysts ICM isolation and allows the use of poor quality blastocysts. More
kit for immunological analysis based on a method which detects antibodies acting against human GSTT1 in biological fluids. The kit may be used for the diagnosis, control and monitoring of pathological conditions associated with the presence of anti-GSTT1 More
Kit for the detection of diseases that occur with alteration of the systemic inflammatory response or metabolic stress. Is based on new antibodies prepared by our group, which are capable of specifically detecting and blocking N-procalcitonin. More
The compositions are obtained by isolation and culture of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from peripheral blood. This method constitues a promising alternative to the already know method involving the use of G-CSF as mobilizing agent. More
method for the preparation of metal nanoparticles functionalized with the neuropeptide VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide). The method allows selective linking of the peptide, so that it is possible to determine which group is kept in free form. More
Kit for rapid detection and differentiation of Brucella spp. and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The method allows the detection of both microorganisms through a single reaction in only 45min More
kit for the easy and rapid and detection of Brucella spp. This method is highly sensitive and specific and is based on the detection of a DNA-specific fragment through RT-PCR. The test of detection may be carried out in only 45min. More
Method for inducing differentiation of pluripotent stem cells to cells which are precursors of tissues derived from endoderm. The cells obtained may be used for regenerative medicine and somatic cell therapies. More
These cells may be used for the treatment and prevention of degenerative and genetic diseases as well as for the treatment of lesions. The cells are also useful in the evaluation of cellular response to biologic or pharmacologic agents. More
The kit is based on nested multiplex PCR using a particular set of primers and allows the calculation of the ratio between the content of the delta- and beta-TREC (T-cell rearrangement excision circle) in samples of human tissues or blood. More
Surgical retraction device for gradual atraumatic access to cavities and areas inside the human body. The device allows the controlled extraction of human body liquids, particulary in open fetal surgery and neurosurgery. More
These new compounds modulate the actions regulated by said receptors, namely satiety induction and food intake control, reduction in body mass gain and the regulation of fat metabolism. More
This dispenser is particulary designed for the prevention of nosocomial infections and to control spread of multiresistant microorganisms in Hospitals and Health Centers. More
The device provides for separation and dissection of deep pelvis organs. It offers an optimal view of the deep pelvis during rectal and mesorectal surgery. It can also be used for separation and dissection of other structures such as bladder, uterus, etc. More
