The essential objective of the Fundación Progreso y Salud is to boost the research process in three distinct areas: resource development, scientific production development and the transfer of the results obtained.
To this end, its main functions are:
- To promote the development and consolidation of structures to support health research and its transfer, in line with Andalusian health planning with regard to knowledge of and solutions for the principal health problems suffered by citizens.
- To directly manage strategically important Regional Ministry of Health research projects such as the Andalusian Stem Cell Bank and the CABIMER (Andalusian Center for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine).
- To boost research financing both through direct programmes and by providing access to, information about and management of grants made available by public organisms ( at regional, national and European level) and by private entities.
- To encourage the development, mobility and interconnection of skills and creativity at both international and intersectorial levels.
- To produce and disseminate information about infrastructures dedicated to biomedical research in the Andalusian Public Health System, and to promote the provision of the necessary installations and new equipment.
- To provide researchers with access to systems of methodological, technical and documentary support, and to the scientific equipment associated with their scientific activity and professional development.
- To manage scientific knowledge by developing real and virtual meeting points and spaces for communication between researchers.
- To support the creation and development of structures which guarantee the protection and transfer of research results to the biotechnology industry, mainly in Andalusia, as a key step towards the incorporation of innovative therapy in clinical practice.
The primary function of Fundación Progreso y Salud is to advance technologies that originated at the Public Health System of Andalusia. To this end, we seek both licensees as well as strategic partners to work with scientists and clinicians to continue the development and commercialization of technologies, for the purpose of taking its discoveries to the world's medical and healthcare market places.
