The office of Technology Transfer at Syracuse University nurtures protects and helps to develop the IP originating from the University's staff, researchers and students.
Initially the office provides full protection of the products or technologies that are developed within the University, either through patents, copyrights or trademarks. From here it assists with the licensing, commercialization and contract negotiations making sure each and every IP reaches its potential.
With support from the Technology Transfer Office, IP goes directly onto suitable licensing partners or alternatively becomes the focus of a new business headed by the inventor themselves. The office can then assist the start up companies and offer guidance through the forms of business strategies and financial plans.
Typical duties of the office include:

Offering significant expertise in getting IP to the marketplace The Technology Transfer Office provides the inventors of the University with the ideal platform to launch their technologies and products into the area they best fit.
The Technology Transfer is interested in hearing from companies, research teams, who could license or acquire the IP originating from the University's research pool.
