The office of Technology Transfer, Licensing and Commercialization at Florida Agricultural Mechanical University (FAMU) nurtures the innovative technologies, developments and products that originate from its faculty, staff and students.
FAMU, established as an institution in 1890 provides an enriched academic environment to students ranging from undergraduates to doctorates and professionals and is based in Northern Florida.
The TTLC is an office created to enable the successful transfer of the University's technology to the global market. By identifying suitable licensing partners, securing patents, marketing innovations and incubating new technologies into viable companies, the TTLC acts as a mediator, preparing the University's innovations for external commercial organizations and public use.
Established in 1996 the TTLC has acquired an excellent grounding of the technology transfer industry and offers its innovators legal guidance for setting technology transfer policies and identifying suitable patent protection methods such as patents, copyrights and trademarks.
The office also has the skills to not only identify good licensing partners but to negotiate beneficial agreements for all parties involved. A primary method of this involves the posting of licensing opportunities on its own site for potential licensors.
