Probiotics

One of our most valued formulations includes Lactopure (Lactobacoillus Sporogenes), a naturally encapsulated room temperature stable probiotic .that possesses all the characteristics of an ideal probiotic. Being a spore, it is highly resistant to heat gastric acids and bile. Lactobacillus sporogenes inhibits the growth of various pathogenic (disease causing) organisms including Candida, Fungal infections, Escherichia coli & others. Carbohydrate Chemistry

Bioplus has diversified competencies in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing and formulations, with a strong orientation towards the advanced

regulated markets. Bioplus’s API research mainly focuses on the yet untapped and challenging area of carbohydrate chemistry. At present compounds of Carbohydrates origin are limited due to the lack of expertise in the Synthetic Organic Chemistry and also uneasy handling of such molecules. This area remains to be explored to a large extent and is a high growth segment.

Bioplus offers a portfolio of specialized Carbohydrate derivatives such as Sucralose, Glucosamine derivatives and other carbohydrates of nutritional importance or with potential pharmaceutical activity.

Solo Sucralose

Sucralose is a sugar substitute, zero calories, which is produced from sugar and tastes like sugar. Unlike aspartame, it is stable in baking and high temperature applications. Made from real sugar, Solo Sucralose tastes like sugar but also offers many other advantages like zero calories and carbohydrates, exceptionally high temperature stability, superior shelf-life, multi-ingredient compatibility, and outstanding processing versatility. It is 600 times sweeter than sugar yet can be safely used by all population groups including children and does not cause tooth decay. Its safety is evidenced by its wide-ranging use. It is already used in over 4000 products including children’s products.

Solo utilizes a novel proprietary patent technology, which is unique, simple and wonderful. This results in a very high quality of sucralose. With over 30 global patent applications to manufacture sucralose via the new advanced novel, non-patent infringing process, Solo is the clear choice. The culmination of over 500 man-years of research and engineering, our new plant went on line in the 3Q of 2007.

Dolenio

Osteoarthritis (OA), is the most widespread type of arthritis and is a degenerative disease of the joints. It is commonly known as “wear-and-tear” disease involving degeneration of joint cartilage and formation of bony spurs within various joints. Glucosamine has been shown to have positive therapeutic effect in the treatment of OA. Recent clinical data indicate that glucosamine may be effective in the long-term prevention of joint structure deterioration associated with OA.

Dolenio contains 1500 mg of Glucosamine sulphate sodium chloride equivalent to 1178 mg of glucosamine sulphate. Glucosamine plays a role in the natural production of cartilage and may be beneficial for maintaining the integrity of healthy cartilage. Glucosamine also helps maintain healthy joint function.

By virtue of the above actions, Dolenio helps to relieve the symptoms of mild to moderate osteoarthritis and shows little incidence of side effects.

Nanotechnology Dendrimers

Bioplus has recently developed a new PETIM (Poly Ether Imine) dendrimer in collaboration with Indian Institute of Science Bangalore.

Dendrimers are hyper-branched polymers having well defined molecular structures, which are monodisperse in their property as compared to conventional linear polymers. They can have different peripheral functional groups which change the properties of these polymers to enable their use in various applications. It has been shown that these globular polymers can be used in almost all kinds of applications where polymers are used. These structures have more efficient usage than any of the conventional polymers.

A product as well as process patent has already been filed. The application of this dendrimer in the areas of nano-medicine, nano-materials, drug delivery, nano-reactors, light harvesting, etc., are being explored.

The bench scale preparation of PETIM Dendrimer has been achieved and is ready, for scale up to the industrial level. Four different teams comprising leading scientists at Bioplus R&D are working simultaneously on the process.
