As mentioned in the October ‘08 ORG-IMS reports, Unichem features as the No.1 brand in 11 therapeutic sub-groups. And, overall, in 65 therapeutic sub-groups, the Unichem brands rank in the Top 5. Unichem has a number of significant achievements. Three Unichem brands, Ampoxin, Losar-H, and Losar feature among the Top 100 pharmaceutical brands in India.

In the highly competitive and fragmented domestic market, Unichem has an enviable franchise among Cardiologists, Diabetologists, Gastroenterologists, Psychiatrists, Neurologist, Nephrologists, Orthopaedicians, Dermatologists, Paediatricians, and general practitioners and consulting physicians. Our infrastructure and capability to reach products across India with minimum lead time

Unichem's marketing and sales infrastructure is divided into various divisions, each focusing on key therapeutic segments. In India, we have a collective field force strength of around 1500. This 1500-strong team meets about 150,000 doctors located across the length and breadth of India. Our strong logistics network helps reach out to every nook and corner of this large sub-continent, through 42 distributors, over 4500 stockists and through the stockists to around 500,000 retail chemists.

• Europe
Unichem offers an ever-ready take-off platform through its wholly-owned subsidiary in UK, Niche Generics. Niche Generics has the spring-board, jump-start competence to translate a patent-expiry into a marketing reality, within the shortest period - from same day to same week of the expiry event.

• USA
To spread its wings across the Atlantic, another wholly-owned subsidiary has been incorporated in New Jersey - Unichem Pharmaceuticals-USA.Unichem's US subsidiary, besides its expertise in filing ANDAs, is complemented by the marketing and distribution network of US-based long-time partners.

• South America & South Africa
Unichem has its own subsidiary in Brazil and South Africa and strategic alliances are in place in all major markets across the globe - with representative offices in CIS republic, the African continent, Southeast Asia, and other markets of the Rest of the World.

• Rest of the World
In addition, our International Business Division markets our products through our own field force, and agents in various markets in the Rest of the World.

• We have product-specific agreements with 2 US-based generics companies

• We conduct contract research and contract manufacturing for some major names in the EU for formulations, APIs and R&D.

We are also currently in discussion with some major international pharmaceutical / biotech companies for in-licensing formulations for manufacturing and marketing in the large Indian market.

• Nutraceuticals: In anti-anaemia, anti-obesity, anti-diabetes, bone health, skin health, nephrology ( ICCU nutrition products)

NDDS versions with a significant value-add to currently available therapies will be of significant interest to Unichem.
