The company in detail

Profile

LFB is a fully integrated pharmaceutical company exclusively dedicated to therapeutic proteins. LFB has developed a proprietary platform to create and develop highly cytotoxic MAb’s and conducts co-operative programs on transgenic recombinant proteins.

LFB has developed and markets 20 therapeutic proteins in the field of coagulation, immunology and intensive care. LFB is a mid-size pharmaceutical company exclusively acting in the field of TP’s on the hospital market segment, with an annual turnover of 270 million euros.
LFB is currently developing a portfolio of recombinant products, MAb’s and coagulation proteins as a future complement or alternative to its existing products which are extracted from human plasma.

LFB is seeking for :

  1. In licensing opportunities for Europe
  2. targets or antibodies to be developed with LFB’s high ADCC MAb’s platform
  3. recombinant therapeutic proteins for the treatment of rare and severe hospital diseases
  4. Toll manufacturing of plasma proteins
  5. Technical and/or commercial partnership in the field of therapeutic protein

Since its incorporation, LFB has developed the largest worldwide portfolio of plasma-derived therapeutic proteins with 12 different molecules available through 20 products. Implementing the latest technologies in terms of securisation and purity, LFB is recognized as first-class for its know-how in purification and characterization of proteins.

LFB is the 4th largest supplier of drugs to hospitals in France and is ranked 6th worldwide in the plasma products industry. Addressing severe diseases and orphan indications, LFB calls to specialists in haemostasis and coagulation, immunology and internal medicine, intensive care and resuscitation. LFB is also able to provide any stage of R&D from protein screening until full clinical development of therapeutic proteins.

Accordingly, LFB is able to manage all stages of collaboration, from research to downstream purification and development. LFB latest products are: 1-Wilfactin, pure protein serving the von Willebrand disease patient community with the best safety standards and an innovative concept through its depletion in exogenous factor VIII. 2-fibrinogen, specific protein to be used for critical bleedings in surgery or post-partum hemorrhage in case of excessive consumption. 3-Hemoleven, pure factor XI concentrate for specific severely deficient populations.

LFB has also developed a strong background in biotechnologies, particularly in highly cytotoxic monoclonal antibodies with shortcoming clinical trials in anti-D alloimmunisation prevention and oncology. LFB is able to deal with all therapeutic proteins at various stages of development, whether from biologic or recombinant origin.

Partnering strategy/interests

LFB is looking for alliances or in-licensing opportunities as the European arm for products ready to market or under clinical development.

LFB is interested in licensing pharmaceutical products, ideally recombinant proteins focused in the following hospital market segments: immunology, coagulation disorders and haemophilia, intensive care – onco-hematology- more generally orphan drugs.

LFB is seeking partners/companies which are looking for a strategic partnership to give them privileged access to hospital markets in Europe (see above therapeutic areas), ideally having a synergistic presence in North America or South East Asia.
