Patheon was founded in 1974 in Fort Erie, Canada. In 1992 Patheon became a Public Company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Patheon operates a network of eleven cGMP facilities in Canada and Europe, employing 3,600 people. Patheon serves a client base consisting of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including 16 of the world's 20 largest pharmaceutical companies. Patheon has a subsidiary, Patheon UK.
