The company in detail

Profile

The Moredun Research Institute is internationally recognised for its work on infectious diseases of sheep and other ruminants. The Institute for Animal Health (IAH) is the largest research institute in the United Kingdom dedicated to the study of infectious diseases of farm animals. It has particular expertise on prion diseases such as scrapie and BSE.

We have technologies available for out-licensing, commercial services/reagents available for purchase, and are seeking research/commercial partners in a number of areas.

Partnering strategy/interests

Genecom's function is to promote the scientific expertise, know-how, inventions and knowledge of the partner institutes, which are available for uptake by industry through license or research collaborations. Potential partners might be:

  • Companies, governments or NGOs operating in the areas of animal health, breeding or welfare
  • Companies interested in the diagnostic techniques available for license
  • Academic organisations interested in collaborative research projects with Moredun, or IAH
  • Organisations interested in translating the Institutes’ expertise in animal health and genetics into the human arena. Possible examples might include work on TSEs, vaccine delivery and Stem cells.

Out-licensing

We have developed an indirect ELISA that it is able to differentiate between animals infected with C. abortus from those infected with C. pecorum More
We have modified a gene from human RSV which results in the generation of neutralising antibodies and a long-lived and robust protective response against RSV infection More
This speculum has been devised to enable quick and consistent sample collection from body passages thereby facilitating procedures requiring the skilled collection of tissue. More
